Eyrir Sprotar invest in Mure
Eyrir Sprotar, the startup and growth fund managed by Eyrir Invest, has invested in Mure ehf., an Icelandic software company working on the development of a virtual reality workplace environment.
Mure’s Breakroom is designed to eliminate stress and increase productivity. Corporate cubicles are increasingly being replaced with open plan offices at the cost of less concentration privacy as well as increased stress levels. Mure’s goal is to solve this problem with the principles of environmental psychology and the help of virtual reality goggles.
Mure was founded by Anton Heiðar Þórólfsson, Bjarni Rafn Gunnarsson and Diðrik Steinsson.
Hilmar Bragi Janusson, dean of the University of Iceland’s department of Engineering and Natural Sciences, who is a member of Eyrir Sprotar´s Investment committee, has been elected Chairman of the board of Mure. “Mure is offering the right technical solution at the right time for a well-defined need in the workplace environment. That is a good recipe for a strong growth opportunity for the talented and well educated team in Mure. It is a privilege to get the chance to support them”, says Janusson.
Last summer Mure participated in Startup Reykjavík and it was there the Mure team laid the foundations for their business plan. “Startup Reykjavík was a fantastic experience and very educational. We knew we had a good business concept and a strong team, but with the help of Startup Reykjavík we got connections, inspiration and the constructive criticism we needed to really get going. Having Eyrir Sprotar as an investor is key for Mure. 3D virtual reality is becoming a real business opportunity”, said Steinsson, CEO of Mure.
